The High Temperature Thermochemistry Laboratory is located at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Seoul National University, Korea.
The main research topics of our group are the developments of:
– Thermodynamic databases for inorganic materials such as oxides and alloys,
– Physical property database related to high-temperature processes,
– Kinetic process simulation models for high-temperature pyrometallurgical processes, and
– Microstructure simulation model for solidification/diffusion/
We also perform key experiments to determine the phase diagrams and thermodynamic/kinetic properties of materials.
We do a very close collaboration with industrial partners to improve current materials processes and develop new materials and related processes. More than 15 domestic and international companies are supporting our research as long-term industrial partners.
Our group is also one of the key-development groups of the FactSage software and databases (www.factsage.com) which is world-widely used in various materials science and engineering areas.
