For his development of comprehensive thermodynamics databases and process simulation models for applications to iron and steelmaking processes, and for his education of computational thermodynamics for the global pyrometallurgy community.

Prof. In-Ho Jung has been appointed as an Associate Editor of Journal of the American Ceramic Society (JACerS).  JACerS is one of the top journals for ceramic materials science research, and has a history over 100 years. As an Associate Editor, Prof. Jung will help the decision of the acceptance of the papers submitted to the journal especially in the fields of thermodynamics, phase equilibria, high temperature refractory ceramics, and general pyrometallurgical applications.  Prof. Jung is one of three Korean scholars appointed as associate editors of JACerS.

The Best Paper Award for papers published in the CALPHAD Journal was awarded to “Kwon, S. Y., Hill, R. J., & Jung, I. H. (2021). A model for multicomponent diffusion in oxide melts. Calphad72, 102246“. The paper for the Best Paper Award was voted for by the CALPHAD Advisory and Editorial Board members. The Best Paper Award consists of a $2000 prize from CALPHAD and a plaque.

“Poster Contest Winner of the 1st place” was awarded to Ihnbeom Lee for the poster “Multicomponent Diffusion Model and Software for Oxide Metls” at FIRE-ECerS Summer School for Students and Industrialists “Eco-Design of Refractories : E for Ecological, Economic, Eco-energetic”, 27-29 June, 2022 in RWTH Aachen University and 30 June, 2022 in Tata Steel the Netherlands.
